There are two acres and 900 years of history - and Cardigan Castle is open to the public this summer.

To coincide with the BBC2 Restoration programme the site is open on the weekends of 17/18 and 24/25 of July.

On Sunday, July 25 a special family treasure trail is being held from 2pm to 4pm.

Characters from the castle's long and chequered history will be on hand to give treasure trail seekers a clue - and there are fantastic prizes for completed quizzes!

Special viewing platforms have been erected to enable visitors to get a good look inside the grounds - even when the gates are closed.

Plans are also in the pipeline for a limited area of the castle to be open to the public throughout the week while clearance work continues.

Council officials want to erect barriers that will enable people to walk in safety along the battlements and in front of the house.
