WEDDING guests in Cwmbran could be forgiven for thinking they were seeing double on Saturday.

For twins Joanne and Rachel Peake, 33, from Croesyceiliog, had a double wedding.

Joanne married Karl Matthews, and Rachel married Jason Williams at St Gabriel's Church, Cwmbran, followed by a reception at the Three Salmons, in Usk.

For Don Peake, the twins' father, the day was extra-special.

He said: "It was a beautiful day and the wedding ceremony was lovely.

"They are like any other sisters, they have their ups and downs, but they have been close and having a double wedding was something they agreed on.

"They had both been courting for quite some time and had talked about getting married, so they decided to have a double wedding.

"I suppose if it had been just one daughter getting married it would have been a special day, but it was something extra special.

"I have also got two sons, but it is different when it is your daughters getting married."

Mr Peake said the brides wore similar dresses, though not the same, and up to 100 friends of both twins and their grooms, and family, attended the wedding.

Mr Peake walked both daughters down the aisle, with Joanne on one arm and Rachel on the other.

He said: "The girls loved it, they thought it was fantastic. It was a very special day for them, they really thought it was great.

"It turned out to be lovely. Both girls agreed what they wanted and compromised, and it all came together to give everybody a really enjoyable day."
