YOUNGSTERS in Cwmcarn are desperate to find new leaders for their popular youth club.
They need people to supervise their twice-weekly sessions - or the club might have to close.
Now they are appealing to adults in the village to help out, so that a rota of people to run the club can be set up.
The club was started around seven years ago, and has been run by local mum Vivien Morris for the last five.
However, they now need more people to provide adequate supervision for the sessions at the Cwmcarn Institute on Wednesdays and Fridays, which are both attended by around 15 youngsters.
Mrs Morris' daughter, Ceri, who is 16, attends the club and says that a few weeks ago sessions had to be cancelled because of the problem.
"One night we had to tell everyone that we couldn't open. There were about 12 people outside and they were really sad about it," Ceri said.
"They didn't know what to do or where to go - it would be a real shame if we had to close.
"The club has several rooms and needs around three or four people to provide supervision."
Activities include pool, a full-size snooker table, football tables, darts, a computer and a TV room.
Ceri says that potential leaders would simply need to be good at dealing with teenagers and have a sense of humour.
Volunteers would not have to attend every session - it is hoped that a rota can be set up so that they would only have to supervise on certain days.
Anyone who thinks they could help should contact Vivien or Ceri Morris on 01495 272496.
