OOPS! A mayor was left red-faced after breaking a plaque during the opening of a new sensory garden.
Councillor Ray Truman was opening a new 'senses garden' at Trinity Court sheltered housing, Pill.
But as he tapped a plaque commemorating the event into the ground it snapped in half.
Councillor Truman said: "I did the speech and thanked everyone and I went to tap it and it shot off, it was quite funny.
"It was probably the three Weetabix I had for breakfast that did it." Residents and volunteers joined the mayor at the opening of the garden which has been designed to appeal to the smell, sight, sound and hearing of residents.
It was developed by Charter Housing in partnership with homeless project NASH and volunteering organiser GAVO, all of whom provided volunteers to build it.
Councillor Truman said: "The garden itself is fantastic, really lovely. "It is a good example of volunteer groups working together and I am sure it will be enjoyed by residents for many more years. "It was a pleasure to be there and shows what can be done in communities."
