THOUSANDS of people enjoyed two days of demonstrations and displays at Gwernesney, Usk.
The crowds were drawn to the British Association for Shooting and Conservation Wales Border Counties Game and Country Fair for the bank holiday bash.
Visitors were given the opportunity to watch falconry displays, BASC gundog events, archery, clay- pigeon shooting and a sheepdog display.
AMs Laura Jones and David Davies were among the crowd who visited the event, which was the first of its kind in South Wales.
Carl Eriksson, chairman of the BASC Welsh committee, said the weekend was an "unbelievable" success.
He said: "Considering it was the first year it was absolutely fantastic. People came from Cornwall, Derbyshire and Gloucestershire to attend."
Glyn Cook, BASC director for Wales, said: "The response we had was brilliant. It seems a lot of people had been waiting for such an event in this part of the world for a long time, and they came out in their thousands and supported it.
"People participated in all the activities, with gundog entries and entries for clay-pigeon shooting."
Mr Cook said they planned to make it an annual event.
