THE Wasps return to home-track action this Sunday, and know that another tough match is on the cards when the solid-scoring Hull Vikings make their annual Premier League visit.
Last year the Yorkshire club finished rock-bottom of the Premier League after a disastrous season, but the re-appointment of Eric Boocock as team manager under a new promotion has worked wonders, and the Vikings have already collected several notable results.
An already encouraging season has become even better following the recruitment of former Rye House youngster Joel Parsons to fill one of their reserve spots, and Wasps promoter Tim Stone admits it is hard to say exactly where the Vikings' main threat will come from.
Stone said: "You can't pick out any of their seven riders. They have four riders on a seven-point average, one on an eight and a reserve on a five so they are an all-round solid unit."
Czech star Pavel Ondrasik returns to the Wasps team after three weeks on the sidelines following his crash at Somerset, but Stone has once again been working hard to find a guest rider for the meeting as skipper Craig Watson is unavoidably absent due to a World Longtrack commitment. In-form Exeter star Seemond Stephens will take the booking.
Stone said: "Seemond is having a very good season and scored ten paid eleven when Exeter were here a few weeks ago. He has turned down a previously booked motorcross meeting in order to be with us on Sunday."
Injured Wasp Tony Atkin will also make a welcome return to the Hayley Stadium where he will watch a meeting for the first time since suffering a badly broken arm in the recent match against Rye House.
Looking forward to the Welsh Open on Sunday June 13, an already mouth-watering field has had two further Elite League regulars added to the line-up, with Coventry's Stuart Robson and Oxford's Ryan Fisher confirming their attendance. Stone has been in talks with another international star to complete the line-up.
