Dragons forward Jason Forster emerged from his first Wales game bruised and battered having experienced a night of mixed emotions at Ashton Gate last night.
Forster made his Wales debut in last night's comprehensive 42-0 victory over the Barbarians at Bristol City's Ashton Gate.
But the 33-year-old cruelly had his evening cut short, limping off just after half-time after receiving a series of heavy knocks during a bruising first-half.
The flanker had a kick on the knee, was elbowed in the groin and took several other hits.
Overall though it was good night for Forster and his Dragons team-mates with Michael Owen grabbing the man-of-the-match award, Hal Luscombe scoring his first try for Wales and Peter Sidoli impressive as a second-half substitute.
"I've got mixed emotions about the game," admitted Forster afterwards. "I'm obviously elated to have finally made my debut but it is obviously disappointing not to have played more of a part in the game.
"But I thought I played well and can now look forward to going on the tour having got that first game under my belt.
"It's a great way to start your international career with a win and some silverware and long may it continue." Forster admitted the presence of some familiar faces had helped him settle into the Wales fold.
"I'm new to the squad and it is not something I've really experienced before. But I'm getting used to it and can now look forward to going on tour," he said.
Wales coach Mike Ruddock paid tribute to Forster.
"Jason is probably one of the hardest guys you'll come across but he was bruised and battered from a couple of good bootings.
"He should be fine though and for a guy who is still finding his way around the international scene he did very well."
