Glamorgan's unbeaten totesport League record was ended by Lancashire with a comfortable five-wicket victory at Old Trafford to go level on points with the Dragons at the top of Division One.
A solid batting effort enabled Lancashire reach their target of 211 with more than 10 overs to spare.
Carl Hooper saw his side pass the winning line with 49 not out from 44 balls but the rest of the top order chipped in with useful contributions. Loye got the innings off to a blistering start with 42 from 35 balls.
He showed he was fully recovered from last week's back injury as he played a range of expansive shots, including his trademark slog sweep off the seamers.
He and fellow opener Iain Sutcliffe put on 52 in seven overs before Loye was caught at deep square leg off David Harrison having hit six fours and two sixes.
Sutcliffe reached 30 before Dean Cosker had him stumped and Glamorgan captain Robert Croft claimed the wicket of Stuart Law (35).
Mark Chilton (27) also got a good start until he was bowled by Alex Wharf with the first ball of a new spell and Glen Chapple holed out to mid-on off Croft the ball after launching him for six.
On another sun-soaked Manchester afternoon Lancashire's bowlers had reined Glamorgan in after they looked to be heading for a big score.
James Anderson, back in the Lancashire team after being left out by England at Lord's, bowled Croft early on but Aussie Matthew Elliott (32) looked in fine form. However, his innings was cut short when he skied Sajid Mahmood to mid-on.
Glamorgan sent in Wharf as a pinch-hitter but he played more like a specialist batsman as he and Michael Powell worked the bowling around well to add 71 for the third wicket. Wharf reached his first one-day 50 of 47 balls but the innings slumped when he was bowled by Hooper in the 29th over.
Mahmood returned for a second spell and took the wickets of Matthew Maynard, Adrian Dale and Andrew Davies to finish with his best limited-overs figures of four for 38.
His yorker again proved a very effective delivery, causing problems for all the batsmen. With Glamorgan's Davies failing to take a wicket, Mahmood is now the leading wicket taker in Division One of the National League.
