Mr Michael Tonge took up the post of Chief Constable of the Force on 1st April, 2004 succeeding Mr Keith Turner who retired from the force at the end of March this year.
I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Chief Constable of Gwent. Gwent has a proud record in terms of its achievement in investigating and detecting crime. I look forward to working with the Police Authority and all our employees, in delivering a supportive and re-assuring style of policing services to all our communities in Gwent. In order to do this we have to be more engaged and caring in our approach and play our part in delivering on the quality of life issues that affect all of us in our daily lives. In my first year I aim to provide strong visible leadership and look forward to working with all our staff, Authority members and key partners. Together we can make a real difference to life in Gwent.
