LLOYDS TSB Union is to petition shareholders for support against exporting jobs to India at the bank's annual meeting in Glasgow this week.
The union is campaigning to keep jobs at the call centre in Tredegar Park in Newport and has collected more than 350,000 signatures from people opposing the outsourcing of jobs.
Steve Tatlow, the union's assistant general secretary, claimed 'offshoring', as the jobs' transfer is known, often resulted in poor customer service.
He said: "If the bank chooses to ignore customer wishes, then even greater numbers are likely to switch their accounts to those other banks who are committed to the UK.
"That will put future profitability at risk," he added.
