A MONMOUTH woman wept with relief yesterday as she was acquitted of dangerous driving and attempting to cause her partner grievous bodily harm.
Beverley Davies, aged 30, (pictured) of Geoffrey Drive, appeared at Newport crown court yesterday.
During the trial, it was said that her partner Lee Christopher stepped into the road to flag down Davies on Dixton Road after the couple had rowed. He told the court : "I was shocked at the sight of the car and jumped onto the bonnet."
He said he had "made a meal of it" and rolled right over the roof of the car onto the ground.
The incident happened on December 6 last year. Davies said she was drifting across the road at 10mph, intending to stop and talk with Mr Christopher, when he ran on the road and jumped on the bonnet.
She admitted initially lying to police, saying Mr Christopher had fallen in the road drunk, so he would not get into trouble for smashing her windscreen.
