RUGBY League legend Trevor Foster was honoured by the mayor of Newport on Saturday.
Councillor Ray Truman presented Trevor with a Newport tie and plaque when he returned to the Church House pub, Pill, Newport, his home town.
After being honoured by the mayor Mr Foster, 88, visited the first team he played for, Pill Harriers RFC where he exchanged jerseys with club chairman Brian Cromwell before attending the Rugby League Challenge Cup final at the Millennium Stadium.
The visit was an emotional one for Mr Foster, who had never seen the ground where Pill Harriers currently play, as it was houses and streets when he signed for Bradford Northern for £400 in 1938.
