THE driver of a Land-Rover Freelander is being sought by police after a young girl was approached by a stranger in an Abergavenny street.
The 12-year-old was walking from her home in the Llanelly Hill area to a nearby relative's house when the incident happened at 1pm on Saturday.
The man, who is described as having dark greasy hair and wearing black-brown sunglasses, approached the girl and asked her to get in his car.
He drove away when the driver of a Ford Escort stopped to see if the youngster was okay.
Detective Sergeant Howard Salmon, of Abergavenny police, said: "We are concerned about any approach to young children and we treat complaints of this nature seriously.
"We are anxious to trace both the man in the Freelander and the witness driving the Ford Escort and would ask anyone with information about their identity to contact us."
Anyone with information should call Abergavenny police on 01873 852273.
