AN arson probe is under way after a fire at Trevethin police station, Pontypool, in the early hours today.
Firefighters from Abersychan and New Inn were called to the single-storey building just after 2.30am.
The blaze caused a water pipe in the roof to burst, which helped extinguish the flames.
The incident is being treated as suspicious and investigators from South Wales Fire Service joined scenes of crime officers from Gwent Police at the scene this morning to assess the situation.
The police station, which is not open full-time, is closed. The other side of the building, which is owned by Torfaen council, did not appear to have been damaged.
