UNDISPUTABLY Montana's best comedian, Rich Hall settled in Britain less than five years ago and is already sick of it.

But that's not surprising - the laconic Perrier award winner has spent much of his life complaining bitterly about the hand fate dealt him.

And a new tour, coming to Cardiff's Glee Club on May 26, showcases his new vehicle for bitching and moaning.

Rich Hall's Fishing Show is set on a boat in the middle of an empty lake, where Rich and his Canadian comic friend Mike Wilmot reminisce, talk about current affairs, and reinforce each other's grudges against the rest of the world.

Hall said: "Fishing is really just an excuse to bitch and moan. For example, Britain's roads - they look like they've been laid out by some guy with an Etch-a-Sketch and a bottle of Jack Daniel's.

"No wonder everyone's so stressed. People in Montana have a different kind of stress. It mainly involves not getting eaten by wolves. "A lot of the show is about America's idea of freedom. Like religion, Americans feel the need to indoctrinate the rest of the world with their beliefs.

"Their reaction to the war is exactly the same as the British - basically, 'Jeez, we were lied to.' Having said all that, the US does have a very mighty military.

"They like to flex their muscles and go out now and again and punch somebody. Somone's got to have the greatest military on Earth, don't they?"

But Hall doesn't hate everything. "I love trout," he said. "Lovely little fish. I would never eat them - I just like looking at them." Rich Hall and Mike Wilmot come to the Glee Club, Cardiff Bay, on Wednesday May 26. Tickets are £12.
