The New Theatre has announced its great new summer season this week, and tickets are already selling fast.

JUNE

84 Charing Cross Road - 8- 12 June This tender bittersweet comedy is the extraordinary true story of a vivacious New York writer and a London bookseller. Through their letters and passion for books, they share a remarkable transatlantic romance spanning 20 years.

Swan Lake - 15-19 June Northern Ballet Theatre returns to the New Theatre with an exciting adaptation of Swan Lake. Set to Tchaikovsky's timeless and soulfully melancholic score.

My Boy Jack - 21-26 June My Boy Jack, a new drama written by and starring David Haig (Four Weddings and a Funeral) is a moving story of the tragic life of Rudyard Kipling. JULY

Blood Brothers - 28 June- 10 July Hailed as one of the best musicals of all time, with its tale of twin boys separated at birth in Liverpool and reunited by a twist of fate to face a mother's haunting secret.

Pirates! - 15-17 July Pirates! is the New Theatre Community Musical, a family show. This merry voyage of swashbuckling, songs and surprises promises to be a treat for the whole family.

Dinner - 20-24 July Starring Stephanie Beacham, Gaby Roslin and Louise Jameson, this is a deliciously black satirical comedy on that ever-recurring theme, the dinner party from hell. Tell Me On A Sunday - 26-31 July Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black's West End success starring Faye Tozer (Steps). This one-woman show charts the romantic upheavals of a British girl in New York.

AUGUST

Tom's Midnight Garden - 3 -7 August A family adventure for the summer holidays, Philippa Pearce's 1950s classic about a boy's nightly voyage to a Victorian past is adapted for the stage by David Wood.

Summer Cuts - 14 August The hot sound of Tango Siempre continues the New Theatre Youth Dance Summer Schools' tradition of combining dance with live music.
