What makes someone swap a well-paid job as a sales manager for a career in teaching? The answer, quite simply, is job satisfaction.
Trainee teacher, Vincent Williams, who is studying for a Cert HE Introduction to Secondary Education course at the University of Wales, Newport explained, "Although I had a good salary and was working for high-profile names like Jaguar and Aston Martin, I was disillusioned with what I was doing. So I decided to leave and do something I really wanted to do - which is teach.
"I'd thought about going into teaching for some time, but didn't have the qualifications. Then, at a university open evening I was told the teacher-training course there was open to me. I realised that I could do what I wanted to without going back to square one and studying A-Levels."
Vincent, 35, who lives in Cardiff, started at the School of Education last September- and hasn't looked back.
"I'm really glad I did it. I'm now using my brain to do something I really want to do. This course is designed for people with little or no qualifications. As long as you put in the time and commitment you can do it. In some ways it's easier than I thought it would be.
"My advice to anyone is if you're not happy in what you're doing, change your job."
