'Global classrooms' incorporating worldwide video conferencing will be a vital tool in a new full-time degree course for budding international business people to be launched by the University of Wales, Newport

The BSc(Hons) International Business degree has been specifically designed to meet the global challenges facing employers in the 21st Century.

"For this course we are introducing the concept of the global classroom," explained Kath Ringwald of the Newport Business School. "Using video conferencing and the Internet, our students will have live links with fellow students and teachers in Europe and the Far East.

"Commencing in September 2004, the course will explore some of the most important issues facing employers today - globalisation, outsourcing, international trade, sustainability, national cultures, new technologies, third world debt and the global economy.

"Using a variety of new and innovative teaching methods, our overall aim will be to produce graduates who will be motivated, independent learners who can tackle a wide variety of issues, anticipate global challenges and contribute to the international success of organisations at home and overseas," she added.
