The Tan House Inn, Shirenewton
IF you want to enjoy a Saturday night meal in a small, friendly pub with a cosy atmosphere then this is the place for you.
From its appearance the Tan House is a typical village pub and inside the friendly welcome certainly fits that image.
The candlit tables and old world atmosphere just adds to an enjoyable evening out.
The choice of menu is traditional and what would be expected from a village pub but the food is good quality at a reasonable price.
For starter I chose breaded mushrooms with small salad and dip - the portion was large enough to share, and tasty.
My partner had prawn cocktail which proved too much for him as he had to leave some room for the main course!
For the main course both my partner and I enjoyed a mixed grill which was tasty and with the large choice of meat, chips, onion rings and mushrooms - very filling.
On the evening my partner and I visited, the dessert selection was limited to hot puddings or ice cream.
My partner had spotted dick and custard while I had ice cream, which was just enough after the huge main course and a nice finish to the meal.
The evening was relaxed with staff that were both welcoming and friendly in a cosy environment.
The meal along with drinks for the evening came to a very reasonable £43.59.
