LET the games begin! From May 1, DVLA's 54 series personalised registrations will be released into the public arena for the first time, giving motorists the opportunity to play with a vast range of letter combinations to find their perfect plate before they go on sale on June 1.

From June 1 over eight million registrations from the entire 54 series will be available for one month only and then from July 1 DVLA will continue to offer over 1.6 million attractive combinations in anticipation of their 'on the road' date of September 1. As with all the current style registrations, customers will be able to choose the first two and last three letters of their registration (subject to availability) and with prices starting from £499 with no other charges, motorists will find it as easy as ABC to find a combination to suit their tastes and pockets.

Louise Pierpoint, publicity manager for DVLA personalised registrations, said: "The May pre-sale period will give motorists a great opportunity to explore a number of different options before they make the commitment to buy a personalised registration, and with the knowledge it will not be snapped up before June 1.
