SUBARU will hand over the keys to some of its most sought-after high-performance models at The Sunday Times Motor Show Live when members of the public can drive everything from the iconic Impreza WRX STi to the new 245 PS Legacy 3.0R. Joining the rally car look-alike and 147 mph Legacy will be other examples from Subaru's All-Wheel Drive stable including the turbocharged sports-utility Forester XT - current Caravan Club Towcar of the Year.

However, the Taster Test Drive programme will be in a controlled environment with each showgoer being accompanied by a co-driver who will guide them through a twisty city drive test course within the grounds of Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre. Subaru is one of seven manufacturers taking part and arguably offers the most prestigious and exciting model range for evaluation.

The Taster Test Drive is free to anyone with a general admission ticket and a current driving licence. Each driver can also take up to two passengers. Motor Show Live - which takes place between May 27 and June 6 - aims to add fresh sparkle to the traditional motor show format with a 4x4 course, driving school programme and the Motropolis Live Action Arena.

Pride of place on the Subaru Stand is the Impreza World Rally Car replica. Subaru's Petter Solberg is the current holder of the WRC Driver's title. Road-going versions of the Impreza will include the 265 PS WRX STi Type-UK with its 151 mph top speed and 0-60 mph time of 5.2 seconds and the naturally-aspirated Impreza 2.0 GX Sport which starts at only £14,950 on-the-road for the saloon.
