IT sounds like a bargain - a new house with ample room for three residents, trees, and even a private pool for just £1,700.

But the new residents aren't going to be making a killing on the property market because eight-year-old Iggy, six-year-old Rocky, and Acey, five, are all male iguanas.

And their new summerhouse was funded by Torfaen animal sanctuary All Creatures Great and Small.

Bought to provide the cold-blooded lizards with an approximation of their natural environment, the house has already been a big hit with the iguanas, who have moved out of their vivariums into their new home.

The £1,700 summerhouse was funded by the charity's Pontnewydd shop and sales of merchandise online.

Viv Harris, owner of All Creatures, said: "There are only two in there at the moment. The other will go in, but we've got to do it slowly because they can be pretty territorial.

"They were given to us as unwanted pets and they are especially hard and time-consuming to look after, so we won't rehome them.

"They definitely get to know your voice and your shape, and they're affectionate in that they'll let you scratch their heads, but you don't get kisses and cuddles from an iguana.

"We want to try to provide a natural environment for most of our animals, and in a house they get a pool to swim in and trees they can climb up. "It's made a big difference to them - they're very happy, and the two in there have become the best of pals already after only 48 hours."
