A charity for the blind which is under siege from vandals has been forced to pay out £4,500 from donations for CCTV.
The Vision Foundation Resource Centre, at Victoria Business Park, Ebbw Vale, is having to spend all its cash on repairs and combating vandalism after a spate of attacks.
Sometime over the weekend a large window was shattered when someone took pot-shots at the building with an air rifle.
It is the latest in a long line of vandalism that has plagued the charity which provides specialist tuition and guidance for visually-impaired children and adults.
Incidents in recent months include: A used syringe, a large knife and numerous cans - all with a jagged edge opened upwards - thrown into the sensory garden used by partially-sighted youngsters The casing of outside lights smashed regularly Play areas vandalised and plants uprooted.
A group of youngsters is believed to be responsible for the attacks. Staff at the organisation have be forced to buy a £4,500 CCTV system, which will be paid for with cash raised from collections.
