CWMBRAN is to receive a massive jobs boost with more than 100 new call centre positions being created in the next few months.

The major recruitment drive is part of an ambitious expansion plan by contact centre Dial in Llantarnam Park, formerly known as HBS.

And another 50 jobs could be created by the expansion later this year.

Managing director Lionel Phillips said: "The new jobs will be well-paid desk jobs based in a modern facility in Dial's Cwmbran HQ. We are looking for lively, enthusiastic people to add to our existing 240-strong workforce.

"The company is locally owned, and we see ourselves as an important contributor to the local economy."

Dial is already listed in the top 20 UK contact centres, and the company plan to be even bigger players with the new expansion.

Employees at the Cwmbran contact centre have worked on national accounts, including British Gas, Carphone Warehouse and Consumers UK.

Mr Phillips said: "Our aim is to make a bigger impact in the UK from our base here in Torfaen, and we are looking for the support of local businesses and the local community to assist us."

He added that the new jobs, a mix of full and part-time positions, would be suitable for everyone, from students to career professionals, and even those looking to supplement their income.

The huge jobs boost was welcomed by Llantarnam councillor Barbara Ryan.

"This is brilliant news," she said.

"I am delighted that we have got another 100 jobs coming into the community. We need more business like this coming in.

"Llantarnam Park has become a very attractive place to set up business and lots of companies are moving there.

"I only hope that these jobs are taken up by local people because that's what it's all about."

The recruitment drive is good news for Cwmbran, which has been hit recently by a number of job losses.

In March it was announced that 90 jobs were going from Britax aircraft seating in Llantarnam Park, and last week Dixon announced it was closing its Cwmbran store.
