BRITPOP survivors Supergrass are celebrating ten years in the field this month with a UK tour.
The band still has enough fans to play Bristol and Cardiff, in the Academy and Cardiff Uni on Wednesday, May 12, and Sunday, May 16 respectively. They'll follow the concerts with the inevitable DVD and fifth studio album, but no release dates or titles have been released as yet.
The album will follow Life On Other Planets, which was a collection of typically quirky pop songs.
But like other releases after their big hit, Supergrass have yet to eclipse the success of their 90s' anthem, Alright.
That song united legions of indie kids beneath the banner, "We've got teeth, Nice and clean".
There has always, however, been a darker side to the band. From their debut album, I Should Coco, there have been the slower numbers such as Time and Sofa (Of My Lethargy).
The band has also always manage to maintain a discreet level of coolness, with wise decisions, such as lead singer Gaz's not to advertise Calvin Klein underwear.
Which is why, while the bands they initially chased (everyone from Blur to Oasis to Ride and Shed Seven) have either imploded or become so irredeemably awful as to warrant deletion of everything by them that was at least passable, Supergrass continue to grow.
