THE family of a Newport man who died after a car crash have spoken movingly of the devoted father of two.
Gareth Evans, 34, lost his fight for life at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, on Monday after being involved in a collision in Newport city centre. Today, his daughter, Milly, aged ten, pays a poignant tribute to her father.
She said: "He was a wonderful father. He never let me down. He was lovely. He used to take me out and used to take my brother to football."
Mr Evans' mother and father, Janet and Alan, are overwhelmed with grief. Mrs Evans said: "He was devoted to his children."
A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the accident on Queensway on Friday night. He was later released on bail and police investigations continue.
