ZABRINSKI are the first generation of Welsh psychedelic bands to follow Super Furry Animals and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci.
The eight-piece band has released a string of eccentric and largely electronic albums on their own Microgram label and with the help of Boobytrap and Ansktmusik.
A rock'n'roll core of drums (Phill), guitar (Burger) and bass (Emyr) is supplemented with the electronic flesh of keys (Robin), pure electronics/live production (Pwyll) and samples (Iwan).
The songs are written by Robin and the band's frontman Matthew Durbridge but improvisation by all band members plays a big part in producing the finished item.
Matthew, who was very nearly a successful racehorse jockey, commented: "Whenever we do practise or turn up for a gig, I get a positive melody in my head within about three seconds of a song being written, and I can't get rid of it.
"So I just start making anything up, and it changes from gig to gig. They can be the most ridiculously indecipherable rubbish ever."
The band also improvises live, making for long, rambling sets which sets them apart from the three-and-a-half minute song norm.
They took their name from the appropriately weird, and Pink Floyd soundtracked film, Zabrinskie point.
They released their debut single Freedom Of The Hiway/Rattlesnake On Ice March 2001 on Boobytrap, the Cardiff-based singles club.
Their debut album Screen Memories was released on Microgram with the follow-up Yeti on Ansktmusik.
Their third album was Koala Ko-Ordination, and the standalone Executive Decision EP was next.
Live, during One Live in Cardiff, they supported Coldplay and JJ72 at Cardiff University for Steve Lamacq's Evening Session, and they've had numerous sessions broadcast on John Peel's show and the Session in Wales.
