NOT to be confused with the MC, Mabon are a feisty Celtic folk group who are pictured here after being caught red-handed scrumping.

They are named after the autumnal equinox which falls around September 22 each year and marks the beginning of autumn.

Their highly danceable music and spirited vocals are laced with the wilder traits of British heritage.

Songs like Bucket of Sloths, Welsh Pro/Fairy Reel and Miss Abagail Helps bring back themes of yester-century.

The group line-up is Derek Smith on guitar, Jamie Smith on accordion, Gareth Whelan on fiddle, and Lolo Whelan on percussion and low whistle.

They've built up a sizeable following on the Continent and in Canada by playing festivals such as Festival Interceltique de Lorient in Brittany, as well as gigs closer to home including the Beltaine Musical Festival on the Isle of Man, and the Lowendar Peran Celtic Festival in Cornwall.

l They're supporting Meic Stevens in the Coal Exchange, Cardiff Bay on St David's Day.
