The Edwards family, originally from South Pembrokeshire, have operated coaches in Pontypridd since 1925.
The founder, George Edwards, was formerly a builder; along with his brother James they constructed landmarks in the Rhondda Valley, such as the Judge's Hall, the Tonypandy Grammar School and most of the houses in Clydach Vale. During the early part of the last century the family moved to Beddau, where they built houses in Tynant for the miners of the then recently sunk Cwm Colliery, including Parish Rd, Commercial St and Mildred St.
In 1925, George Edwards, who was by this time semi-retired, formed the "Edwards Brothers" bus company with his sons. Their first vehicle was a charabanc that had solid tyres and a convertible canvas roof.
Over the years the company has steadily grown and now today there are more than 80 vehicles, now operated by Mike Edwards who is the great grandson of the founder. The company transports private hire clients to various destinations of their choice, but also produces a 72-page full colour holiday brochure.
The brochure is full of package tours by land, sea or air to exotic far-flung destinations, such as the Canadian Rockies and China, as well as the old favourites from Bournemouth to Blackpool or Paris to Paignton.
As a family-run business, we use the same old fashioned values that they had years ago but utilising the most up-to-date technology, including new air-conditioned coaches and fully computerised booking offices, to ensure your holiday is trouble free and second to none.
This is why we are South Wales's fastest growing coach company. The experience we have at Edwards allows us to offer the customer a top quality service, at value for money prices: this is why our customers continue to travel with Edwards year after year.
We at Edwards feel that your holiday begins from the time we pick you up, to the time we bring you safely back home. We take a pride in every aspect of your holiday, this not only includes the professional tour driver and his coach, but your accommodation, entertainment and excursions.
So make sure you are on the mailing list for the free 2004 Edwards brochure, and join one of our groups for a fabulous holiday or simply a short break.
