NEWPORT sprinter Christian Malcolm and Risca 400m athlete Jamie Baulch have both been included in the GB team for the IAAF World Indooor Championships in Budapest from March 5-7.
Malcolm has been included alongside Tim Abeyie and ahead of Allyn Condon, the fastest man over 200m in the world this year with 20.64sec, while Baulch partners Essex runner Adam Potter.
Malcolm clinched his place with a blistering performance on Friday night, winning the 200m at the Norwich Union International in Birmingham.
The Jock Anderson coached 200m star ran 20.74seconds, well inside the World Indoor qualifying time.
Condon pulled out of Friday night's meeting through injury, but looked favourite to take the one remaining 200m spot until Malcolm's run.
Friday's race was Malcolm's first of the season and he is still recovering from a groin injury picked up in Sheffield earlier this month, meaning there is probably plenty more to come from the Welsh star.
Malcolm claimed he was not too bothered whether he travelled to Budapest or not, but deep down he was desperate to compete in the last 200m World Indoor Championships before the event is scrapped after this year.
He said: "The indoor season is not so much of a priority with it being Olympic year, but with it being the last 200m at a World Indoor Championships then it does make me want to go that little bit more."
Meanwhile, Newport-based Darren Campbell has blasted the starting procedures following his disqualification on Friday night.
Campbell had a false start in the final of the 60m and was not at all happy following the event.
He said: "There was a problem with the starter all night. We've all seen that but what can you do? We always have a problem with the starters in Britain.
"The problem indoors is it's all so tight so every noise we can hear it. With me and Jason (Gardener) going out it turned out to be a strange event in the end, but that's just the way it goes sometimes."
