MARIE Evans wants to thank a Good Samaritan who went to her aid after her baby son was suddenly taken seriously ill.
Mrs Evans was overcome with shock when 18-month-old Bailey Shefford suffered a seizure while she was out with him in his buggy.
She called out to a man who was passing and he took Bailey out of his pushchair and rushed him across a busy road to a nearby doctors' surgery.
The toddler was kept in hospital for two days but was released after being given a clean bill of health.
Mrs Evans, of Wyevern Street, Beechwood, Newport had just taken Bailey to the doctors because he was suffering from a minor illness.
She was on her way to the chemist when she noticed something was wrong with her son.
"I just looked at him and his hands were clenched," said Mrs Evans. "His eyes rolled back and he had a fit. He just looked horrendous."
The frightened 40-year-old mum admitted she just froze and called out to a man who was nearby.
She said: "He just took Bailey out of the buggy and ran across Chepstow Road to the surgery and the doctors took over."
An ambulance was called and the youngster was taken to hospital. Mrs Evans said she was told he had suffered an infantile seizure which was unlikely to re-occur.
She had not experienced anything similar with her other three sons who are all older than Bailey.
Mrs Evans said it all happened so quickly she had no time to speak to the man she believed might have been a delivery worker and was wearing a red fleece.
She said: "I wanted to thank him but he must have gone back out and carried on with his normal business."
