PAUL Parry beamed that appearing for Wales was better than he ever imagined after making a dream debut for Wales in last night's 4-0 slaughtering of Scotland.

Parry exclaimed: "To get on and set up a few goals was just brilliant."

The Newport-born wing replaced an injured Simon Davies just after the half hour and more than made his mark by playing a major part in two of Wales' goals.

The 23-year-old revealed he couldn't wait to get his chance to show what he could do.

Parry said: "I was itching to get on to the pitch and when I saw Simon Davies limping I started to get excited because I knew my chance was coming.

"I was a bit nervous but I get nervous before every game. Once I got out on to the pitch I started to enjoy it. "This is something I have always wanted to do. I was hoping to play some part of the game. I wanted to go and show people what I could do."

Parry's impact was immediate, his first touch leading to Earnshaw's and Wales' second goal.

He said: "It is always good to have an early touch and get the opportunity to run at a few people, so it was great to be involved in the goal."

Parry's still in dreamland but knows he has to establish himself at Cardiff before thinking about adding to his first cap.

He said: "I still have a little more to do at Cardiff. I have only been there a month. But things could not have started any better for me."

Another debut was handed to Bournemouth's Carl Fletcher, who said: " I thoroughly enjoyed it. I felt pretty comfortable because there were so many great players around me and it was such a good performance and the scoreline was a pleasing end to a good couple of days.

"If I work hard enough, hopefully I can be involved again."
