A CWMBRAN teenager found bleeding on his mother's doorstep after a night out still cannot remember what happened to him.
Matthew Young, 18, needed emergency surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain.
He is recovering in the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, following his ordeal.
His mother Sue Horgan, of Fairwater Way, said today that he was not yet well enough to be interviewed by detectives.
Mrs Horgan said Matthew had been vomiting and she believed it was caused by a combination of trying to piece together what happened and sitting up for a short period.
"Trying to remember what happened to him has set him back a bit," she told the Argus. "He can remember having some chips but nothing after that."
She added that the right side of his head and face were still swollen. She believed Matthew was attacked and robbed in the early hours of Saturday morning after a night out with his brother Andrew, 19. He collapsed at her front door at 1am covered in blood and mud. Two of his teeth were missing.
His mobile phone and watch were missing but the watch was later found near the Blenheim shops.
Matthew was with friends at Grimas Fish Bar in Victoria Street at 11.30pm but what happened after that remains a mystery.
Gwent Police are appealing for witnesses who saw Matthew between 11.30pm on Friday and 1am on Saturday to contact them on 01633 838111.
