SCOTLAND boss Berti Vogts has revealed his team are not afraid of Ryan Giggs, in fact he is HOPING that the wing king starts the match!

Astonishingly, Vogts wants to see Wales' best known player on the pitch tonight as he feel it would be a boost his own players and also help make the occasion.

Vogts said: "I am happy Ryan Giggs might be playing for Wales. It will give all the players a lift for the game and means that we have to play at our best for the whole of the match.

"I hope Giggs plays, he is a fantastic player. For me, he is one of the best wingers in the world."

Vogts dismissed claims that the match was meaningless: "For both sides it is a challenging match. We are both looking to find out why we did not qualify for the European Championships and to start our preparations for the World Cup. I am hoping for a good performance from both teams."

The German also paid tribute to the work done by Mark Hughes in taking Wales to the brink of their first major competition in five decades. He said: "Mark has done extremely well. He's a nice person and has done a good job.

"He has brought in a lot of new faces and young players which is good, especially in friendlies.

"We all thought that they would qualify for the European Championships but they had some draws and were just short."
