A TORFAEN cat was separated from her family for a week - because she was so small animal rescue staff thought she was a kitten.
Six-year-old black and white tabby Dinky was found crying on a doorstep in Cwmbran a week ago and picked up by Cats Protection Gwent South. But when her owners contacted local vet Smith and Clare they said they hadn't seen a six-year-old cat because of Dinky's size.
Luckily Dinky had been micro-chipped - and after a scan at the vets on Wednesday she was reunited with her family.
Mike O'Farrell of Norfolk Close said: "We called her Dinky for fairly obvious reasons.
"We got her from All Creatures Great and Small in Cwmbran about four years ago and she's just always been very, very small.
"I guess she's the runt of the litter, but of our other two cats, one's normal size and one's large and Dinky chases them both."
Loretta Kedward, spokeswoman for Cats Protection Gwent, said: "It just goes to show that microchipping your cat can lead to a happy ending against all odds."
