Careers Wales Gwent advisers grabbed a prime pitch for getting their message across to the community when they set out their stall alongside the market traders.
As part of the commitment to take careers information out to the public, Careers Advisers in the North West Region (Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly East) pitched to the public on market days and were encouraged by the positive response they received from both shoppers and traders alike.
Handing out promotional pens, balloons and other gifts they targeted hundreds of people who might not otherwise cross the threshold of a careers centre.
This initiative was one of a number of specially organised community "outreach" events during the summer months.
Said Roger Harris, Communications and Systems Manager at Careers Wales Gwent , "Teaming up with the market traders proved to be very successful and the local market managers were great allies giving us prime pitches. It was a great opportunity to mix with the local community and raise awareness of the type of help and support we are able to offer. We hope to build on the format next year."
Among the other public events held at careers centres across the region was a Valleys Radio roadshow aimed at telling people of all ages to get advice before making their career decisions.
