JAGUAR collected its second award of the week (January 22) winning the Luxury Car category with the Jaguar XJ6 at the prestigious What Car? of the Year Awards.
Rob Aherne, editor of What Car? magazine, commented: "The new Jaguar XJ6 is our pick of the luxury car class. Visually, it's unmistakably a Jaguar with an interior that is a brilliant contemporary take on a classic design. Under the skin, however, it's all change with an ultra-modern, aluminium structure that brings a host of benefits including excellent performance, fuel economy and emissions from the 3.0-litre V6 engine."
Aherne continued: "The new XJ is also bigger in every direction than the previous generation, so there is plenty of room to stretch out in the front and in the rear. The increase in size though hasn't diluted the traditional Jaguar dynamic ability - the XJ6 is surprisingly nimble and boasts excellent body control."
A delighted Phil Popham, Jaguar's UK managing director, said: "We are delighted with the reaction the new XJ has received from the media and our customers since its launch in the middle of last year. In the UK the new XJ is already dominating the premium luxury saloon segment with 2003 sales up 92% compared with 2002."
