Caerphilly set a fast and furious pace from the kick-off plus excellent ball winning skills in the rucks and mauls, giving them a good platform to work off.

This paid dividends against amuch bigger pack, who worked the ball out to the back line time after time.

Quick ruck ball on the halfway line paved the way for Caerphilly's first try, which saw Stephen Williams dive in at the corner, he also converted.

A wave of forward power continued from the restart and Caerphilly now with a taste for scoring again crossed their host's line for a second try, when a drive through the Risca pack by Jamie Sollis saw him over under the posts.

The Caerphilly pack including Joel Cousins, Alex Spargo and Luke Evans, never gave an inch in the forward battle and starved Risca of much needed ball to their forwards, and it was only good defending by Risca that kept the score to 14-0 at the interval.

Caerphilly rang just a few changes at half-time with Ryan Davies and Chris Evans on for Tomos Phillips and Joseph Carey who both gave good first half performances.

Caerphilly, playing into the wind this half, continued with style and registered their third try when Bradley Hill burst through two Risca defenders from their 22 metre line.

Williams made it a hat-trick of conversions.

From the restart,Caerphilly man of the match, Caleb Ball, set up his forwards to win good ruck ball, this allowed Sam Innes, Anthony Davies and Thomas Maloney in the back line to pass and weave their way up field In the end, it was stout defending from Riscathat keptthe Caerphilly scoring machine under control.

Risca battled it out to the final whistle and claimed a consolation try in the last minute.
