A CHEPSTOW gran cooked up a treat on a hit television cookery show to help her granddaughter who suffers from a rare genetic disease.
Four-year-old Rosie Doddridge has Shwachman's Diamond Syndrome, a disease affecting the pancreas, bone marrow and skeleton.
It means Rosie finds it difficult to digest food because the cells in her pancreas do not work properly.
Caring gran Viv Husbands, 61, of The Paddock, appeared on Ready, Steady, Cook with fellow foodie Yvonne Tucker, 63, of Tutshill. It will be screened tonight on BBC2.
The two pensioners love to experiment with food and cook surprise meals and hold dinner parties for each other.
Months after posting their application to appear on the popular show with chef Ainsley Harriott, they were both delighted to be chosen. The programme was filmed last week.
The opportunity gave them the chance to raise money and awareness for Shwachman's Diamond Support charity.
The pair walked away with £100 prize after the audience voted Mrs Tucker the winner with her duck risotto, rice with peppers and leeks and griddled pak choy.
Mrs Tucker told the Argus: "We had a marvellous day in Wandsworth - we were treated like stars by the make-up and wardrobe departments and Ainsley and the chefs were brilliant to us. "Everybody on the show was lovely and we had great fun."
