HANNAH Denman put her best foot forward for Spar-kle - now she wants others to do the same.
The 27-year-old Royal Gwent Hospital employee completed the Cardiff half mar-athon for our Sparkle Appeal.
We want to raise £250,000 towards a £6m disabled children's centre for Newport, Torfaen and South Monmouthshire.
Hannah Denman, 27, an assistant at the directorate for trauma and orthop-aedics at the Royal Gwent, Newport, took part in the half mara-thon last September and raised £300 for the appeal.
Hannah, from Cardiff, said: "It was something that I have always wanted to do and something to aim for.
"I have played hockey, squash and tennis but I have never really been a big runner. I really enjoyed the training. We would go out a lot over the summer and run and it was good.
"I decided to support Sparkle because I work at the hospital and I wanted to do something for the it, so I asked around about local charities and I was pointed in the direction of Sparkle.
"I decided that any money I raised from the half marathon I would give to them. I thought if I was doing it I may as well raise a bit of money. When the centre is built it is going to be great for the children and families. It is a great cause."
Hannah said she was hoping to do the half marathon again and would start training.
She said: "It's harder in the winter, but I am hoping to do some more and raise some more money for charity.
"I would encourage people to raise money for the Sparkle Appeal because it is a good and worthwhile cause."
To follow Hannah's example and take part in the Cardiff Half Marathon and help the appeal at the same time then join the Sparkle team at the event on October 3. Call 01633 215318.
