A NEWPORT charity shop is appealing for help in securing the safe return of a stolen Betty Boop figure.

St Anne's Hospice shop, Risca Road, Newport, last weekend had a two-foot Betty Boop figure, one of a pair, stolen from the shop.

The figure, a model of the cartoon character which is as popular than ever with collectible items such as T-shirts, mugs and figures on sale, was discovered missing by staff at the shop on January 10.

Rebecca Mathias, who works in the St Anne's shop on a Saturday morning, said that they noticed the figure had been stolen after a break-in but she said that seemed the only thing they were aware of that had gone missing.

She said: "The figure is worth about £80 and we have had a lot of interest in it. We would ask anyone who knows anything about it to return it to us."

The shop is open Monday to Saturday, 9.30am until 4.30pm and the telephone number is 01633 243522.
