A MAJOR regeneration is planned for Blaenavon under ambitious proposals to reshape the future of Torfaen.
A major new document on the future of the borough goes before councillors this week, with a dramatic vision of how the county is to be revolutionised by 2016.
The ambitious Torfaen Regeneration Strategy charts the future of the county borough for the next 12 years, with a range of proposals on how to revitalise its beleaguered communities in Blaenavon, Pontypool and Cwmbran, and tackle low pay and unemployment.
And Blaenavon is being recommended for a major regeneration programme in a bid to attract more jobs to the area.
The regeneration vision sets out prime objectives for the project, the stated aim of which is: "In 2016, Torfaen is a desirable and safe place to live, work, play and visit."
