A NEWPORT man says his life is being made a misery by learner drivers who practise outside his house.

Alan Ainscough, 66, from Ridgeway View, Newport, says that since moving into his bungalow in April, up to 12 motoring schools a day are using his corner to practise reverses on.

He says: "My wife has epilepsy and is a stroke victim and she is in bed a lot but we can't have the windows open because of the noise and fumes.

"The road is only about four feet away, they are right on the top of us. We permanently have the curtains drawn because there is no privacy.

"Now we get the bonnet slammed down because they have to look at the engine and the doors slammed when they look to see how far away from the pavement they are and then they try to reverse round again."

Mr Ainscough says the drivers come to that area because they can do a hill start and then a reverse round a corner.

But he says he often parks his car so they are not able to do the reverse.

He says: "I sit here hoping they will get it right first time so they will go away." * Pictured, Alan Ainscough, of Ridgeway View, Newport, who is angry with learner drivers practising their manouevres outside his bedroom window
