SINGING to millions of people is a far cry from fitting kitchens, but it is a dream come true for one Newport man.
Clive Davies, 41, always wanted to take part in ITV1's hit TV talent show Stars In Their Eyes.
But the kitchen and bathroom fitter from Llanwern had applied to be on the show seven times - and was about to give up.
Clive said: "I told myself this application will be the last - but luckily for me I made it through - on the final attempt.
"I've always loved to sing and entertain, I used to be in a band and would love to be able to do it as a career."
Clive's appearance on Stars In Their Eyes follows that of Karen Webb, also from Newport, who appeared on the show as Dame Vera Lynn earlier this month.
Now Clive, a father of three teenage girls, is flying the flag for Gwent singing talent.
Viewers of the programme will be able to see Clive transformed into Eagles singer Don Henley, singing the classic Hotel California, on Saturday night.
Clive said: "I've always loved the Eagles, and particularly that song, but it's only through singing it around the house and on karoke that I realised I sounded like him.
"And with all the make-up, hair and costume they did for me, I really got to feel like I actually was Don Henley.
"I had an absolute ball filming it. Matthew Kelly, all the production team and the other contestants were great."
Other Eagles songs include Desperado. Clive will be getting together with family and friends to watch the show on the big night.
He said: "We'll probably go to my sister's house as she has the largest TV. It will be weird to see myself on screen, but I am looking forward to it." To find out whether Clive wins his heat watch Stars in Their Eyes at 7.15pm on ITV1 this Saturday.
