A NEW childcare information system was launched in Torfaen yesterday.
Torfaen council's Children's Information Service makes it easier for parents to get information about playgroups, after-school clubs, childminders and playschemes.
The new service was launched by Jane Hutt, Wales minister for health and social services, at Cwmbran's Greenmeadow Community Farm.
Giveaways, competitions and the Teletubbies were on hand to entertain dozens of children invited to celebrate the launch.
Councillor John Turner, Torfaen's executive member for education, said parents have to make many telephone calls to find out about their childcare options.
He said: "The Children's Information Service is a one-stop shop that makes it quick and simple for them to get what they want, when they need it.
"This is a really valuable step forward."
