MAZDA MX-5, the world's most popular roadster, gets a winter makeover in time for the New Year with improved specification and three new exterior colours. With prices starting from just £15,000 on the road, the Mazda MX-5 is guaranteed to turn heads this season.

In showrooms now, the improved specification Mazda MX-5 features new design 16-inch alloy wheels on the Sport derivative adding to its sports car appeal. A new windblocker equipped with two speakers on 1.8i and 1.8i Sport will ensure Mazda MX-5 owners can enjoy their music as well as the thrill of open-top motoring.

Inside the cabin, a new aluminium centre console surrounds the stereo and air vent/air conditioning controls while new cloth seat material completes the improved interior look. Three new exterior colours Strato Blue, Radiant Ebony (a dark aubergine Mica) and Titanium Grey (Titanium Grey is only available on the 1.8i Sport) continue the Mazda MX-5 tradition of turning heads.

The Mazda MX-5 is available with either 1.6i or 1.8i petrol four cylinder engines. The 1.6-litre engine provides a top output of 110ps at 6,500rpm and maximum torque of 134Nm at 5,000rpm. The result is acceleration from 0-62mph in 9.7 seconds, a top speed of 119mph and a frugal 36.7mpg on the combined cycle.

Over 55,000 Mazda MX-5s have been sold in the UK since launch, while 2002 was an all-time record year for the Mazda MX-5 in the UK with sales exceeding 7,000. The popular roadster looks set for another record this year with sales to the end of November at 8,866 compared to 6,893 during the same period last year; an increase of 28.6%.
