WEB designer Richard Acreman (pictured) is helping to encourage people in Wales to start their own businesses.
The Newport-born 23-year-old runs a company called Media ICT and he's featured in a new book from the Welsh Development Agency called Stop Dreaming, Start Living. This 160-page effort is aimed at people thinking of starting up on their own.
Mr Acreman's business success is being used as an example of what can be achieved by people with the right skills, drive and commitment.
Having graduated in London and found work with an Internet service provider, Mr Acreman soon decided he wanted to work for himself.
He said: "I was setting up my employer's web design department and I realised that I could be doing something similar for myself back in Newport.
"I set up Media ICT with help from Newport and Gwent Enterprise which gave me some sound advice."
The firm now employs three people and has a burgeoning client list. "Business is going well and we have a full order book.
"I certainly don't regret starting the business.
"I'm earning more than in my job in London and I'm having a lot of fun."
Stop Dreaming, Start Living is being launched with the backing of the 'becauseyoucan' advertising campaign.
With almost 400 people in Wales starting up businesses each week, the book helps the reader to focus on key issues for success.
Daniel Jones, the WDA's director of strategy and communications for the Entrepreneurship Action Plan, said: "Entrepreneurship in Wales is increasing and the WDA is providing individuals with encouragement, advice and support to help make their dreams a reality.
"We want to encourage more people to be like Richard. It's good for individuals, the people they employ and the economy of Wales."
Mr Jones claimed that entrepreneurship in Wales increased by 22 per cent over the past year and he wants that trend to continue.
