ABERGAVENNY'S Julian Winn is flying out to Majorca today the Welsh squad with another title firmly under his belt.
The 31-year-old former rider on the elite world circuit that includes the Tour de France mastered the tricky conditions at Risca Leisure Centre to command the Welsh Cyclo-Cross Championships and win by a distance.
Winn took the National Road Race Championships 18 months ago but this is not the first time that he has completed victory on the grass.
The former rider for Danish outfit Team Fakta took the Welsh crown a few years ago and has also won the junior title.
Winn said: "It's great to get a victory in this again after competing in the British Trophy Championships at Abergavenny a few weeks ago."
Organiser Rob Lally said the triumph was one of complete domination by the Gwent rider.
He added: "Julian was very pleased with the victory after the race. He absolutely demolished the field. It was a superb ride by him.
"On his past form, Julian was the man to beat, especially with his great ride in the British Trophy a few weeks ago.
"None of the other riders could keep with the pace that Julian was settting and he lapped all but Tim Davies, in second place.
"It was awesome to see him riding like that."
Davies, who rides for CC Abergavenny but lives in North Wales, came home second but such was Winn's acceleration around the course that the runner-up was way back.
Craig Cooke, from Bridgend and brother of Welsh cycling star Nicole, was third a lap behind the victor.
