PONTYPOOL 'Tot-star' Demi Holborn will not be making a new album this year, say her parents.

Fans of the ten-year-old singer, from Trevethin, will now have to wait until next year for any new releases.

Since winning GMTV's Totstar competition last year, Demi is in constant demand to perform for local charities and others.

The Pontnewynydd Primary School pupil beat 7,000 children from all over the United Kingdom when she won the GMTV Totstar title.

She gained a recording contract with Universal Records and had a slot performing at Party in the Park, in Cardiff Castle. Her debut single, a cover of the New Seekers' I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing, hit number 27 in the charts last July.

Demi's parents, Mike and Louise Holborn, spoke to Universal Records last month about cutting an album, but say that the huge amount of work involved would affect Demi's schooling.

She is preparing to go to St Alban's High School in September. Her mum said: "I don't mind because it shows that the record company have Demi's best interests at heart. Because she's so young they don't want to push her too hard. I don't think she minds, either, because she's so busy."

However, Demi is never short of offers to sing, and her diary for the next few months is full.

In May she will sing at Caldicot Castle's May Day Spectacular, and at the Caldicot Jazz Festival in July. The family say they have been approached by the Red Cross, who are keen for Demi to do publicity work for their Iraq campaign.
