IT was a bad day for our Gwent sides in the Lloyds TSB Welsh National League Division One.
Only Blackwood managed a positive result, albeit a draw against Glamorgan Wanderers.
In a classic encounter Blackwood fought back from a 23-9 deficit to take a 26-23 lead with only minutes remaining.
But the Wanderers scored a late penalty and could even have snatched, but poor decision-making in the dying seconds of the game cost them victory.
The point will be welcome relief for Blackwood, who have been struggling of late.
Craig Clement and Richard Lewis scored Blackwood's try, with Jeremy Lloyd scoring four penalties and two conversions.
However, both Tredegar and Brynmawr lost, and Tredegar now find themselves in a perilous position.
They still only have three points, and can be thankful that bottom-placed Tondu are having a season to forget and are yet to get off the mark.
Brynmawr lost to UWIC in another tight affair, losing 22-18 to the students.
Damien Hudd and Simon Perry scored the tries for Brynmawr, with Jason Williams scoring two penalties and one conversion.
Elsewhere, Tredegar lost 38-13 to a very impressive Beddau side, and they are now second from bottom.
